Senior Students & Student Executive:
This year, we have an excellent body of Senior Students, consisting of 20 Senior Executive Members with specific responsibilities, 14 Active Listeners and 11 Senior Students.
The whole Team serves the school during their break and lunchtimes when they carry out duties and support our staff. They provide an excellent role model for younger students and give them something to aspire to.
In addition to their normal duties, they attend Year 6 Induction Day, Open Evening & Days, and Parents' Evenings when they act as guides and helpers. The Senior Students at St John's provide an invaluable service to the School and to the staff.
School Council:
The School Council consists of two students per Year Group, three members of the Student Executive Team (Jack Hendy, Head Boy, Toni Bridger, Head Girl and Lawrence Hurry, Secretary). The Council meets every half term to discuss student issues raised in their Year Group Council Meetings.
Areas of interest this year have been the new school build, canteen prices and toilets. Ideas on how to improve attendance came from the Year 8 representatives. Minutes of the meetings are circulated to the Heads of Year and the Senior Leadership Team. Two Governors, Alison Dolan and Jan Hall also attend School Council Meetings.
Youth Elections:
On 18th December 2007, a poll was taken for the 8 candidates who took part in the Elections for Epping Forest Youth Councillors. The two students elected were Kaylee Orchard, Rosie Sheriff. Both girls are in Year 8 and on 7th February they will be representing the School at the Young Essex Assembly, to discuss The Green Pledge which is a scheme designed and developed by young people to raise schools' awareness of green issues. |
